First time in 800 years, Cambridge University scraps in-person lectures

Cambridge University just became of the first among other universities in Britain to cancel all their face to face lectures for the academic year of 2020-2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic, after 800 years of welcoming students to their classes.

It might not be the last they take this step as this pandemic is threatening the base of conventional student experience and finances of universities all around the world.

The Cambridge on Tuesday announced that all lectures will be held virtually and streamed online till the summer of 2021. They also said it also might be possible to have tutorials and other teachings in small groups as it is an essential part of their university system when the academic starts in October with every step to protect their students against COVID-19 by having social distancing between them.

The university said in a statement “the decision was taken to aid planning, but it is still being reviewed and some changes will also be implemented on the advice of the government.”

The pandemic also affected students for it they sent students back home and made all their classes online during the lockdown and took all the exams remotely.

The California State University announced last week that they will be taking classes of the fall semester virtually and all classrooms will be closed this made it one of the major universities in the US to cancel all their lectures to fall.
