Sindh extends ‘smart’ lockdown till July 15 to contain coronavirus cases

Karachi: The provincial government announced that the smart lockdown which was enforced across Sindh will be extended till 15 July. The smart lockdown was also extended in Punjab and Balochistan as the number of coronavirus patient started to increase in.

A notification was issued in its regarding saying that the decision was taken” in continuation of the order of even number dated 1 June 2020 and for the same reason recorded therein the Government of Sindh, in the exercise of powers under Section 3(1) of the Sindh Epidemic Diseases Act, 2014(The Sindh Act VIII of 2015).”

The province announced on 1st June that following a meeting of the National Coordination Committee (NCC), it had been decided that the economic activities must be opened and a focus on compliance of SOPs must be ensured while such economic activities are going on.

In the notice, the lockdown was extended for two more weeks, with some places to remain closed and activities prohibited which include:
Educational training institutes
Marriage halls, businesses centres, expo halls
All contact sports, indoor sports clubs, indoor gyms and sports facilities
The sporting tournament, indoor and outdoor 
Restaurants, cafes excluding takeaway and home delivery
Theme parks, amusement parks and arcades
Beauty parlours and spas  
Cinemas and theatres
Public processions/gathering of all nature, shrines
Tourism/tourist hotels
Inter-provincial transport

Intercity transport will be open while keeping in view the petition by transporters in the High court of Sindh” but not inter-provincial public transports.

The notification also said, “The provincial government and district administration by order may restrict all/any activity in areas which are the hotspots for the spread of COVID-19.”

In this period, operational days/hours for businesses will be as follows:
Business timing except for pharmacies and essential services 
five days per week (Monday-Friday) from Morning to Maghreb (6 am to 7 pm)
Restaurants and cafes, etc- all days of the week(closed for customer dine-in and only take-away and home delivery allowed) as follows:
1)Take-away and home delivery (6 am to 7 pm)
2)Home delivery only (7 pm to 11 pm)

The notification issued made people know the treat of coronavirus and that the spread hasn’t decreased yet but increased and may get strict if SOPs are not followed as required.

The SOPs that everyone needs to follow include:
Avoid coming out of houses from 7 pm to 6 am
Wear a face mask when going out to any public place
Keep a distance of over 3 feet between persons at all times
Frequently was your hand or use proper hand sanitizer
Strictly following distancing protocols while traveling by transport
Strictly follow to SOPs at offices/workplaces
Strictly follow to all SOPs issued by the provincial and federal governments from time to time
