To investigate whether audio leaks are true and “erode trust in superior judges,” the government establishes a three-member judicial commission.

The administration on Saturday created a judicial commission including three senior judges whose purpose is to investigate the veracity of recent audio leaks and “their impact on the independence of the judiciary”.

According to a government notification that Dawn.com has access to, the commission will be chaired by senior Puisne judge of the Supreme Court Justice Qazi Faez Isa. Chief justices Aamer Farooq of the Islamabad High Court and Naeem Akhtar Afghan of the Balochistan High Court will also be members of the commission.

The panel was instructed by the government to begin an investigation as soon as it was informed of its formation and to complete it within 30 days.

The announcement further said that in the event that the commission asked for further time, the federal government would grant it.
