‘India will miss Bumrah in Asia Cup, his absence does make a lot of difference’

Former Pakistan captain Salman Butt thinks India will miss the services of senior pacer Jasprit Bumrah during the upcoming Asia Cup.

The Indian team announced their squad for the tournament on Monday and Bumrah’s absence from the team was a major talking point as the right-arm pacer missed out due to an injury.

BCCI had later confirmed the news saying that Bumrah and Harshal Patel were not available for selection due to injuries and are undergoing rehabilitation at the NCA in Bengaluru.

“Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel were not available for selection owing to injuries. They are currently undergoing rehab at the NCA in Bengaluru,” said BCCI in the statement.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Butt stated that India will surely miss the 28-year-old and his absence will make a lot of difference.

The former Pakistan captain went on to praise the Indian pacer and said that he bowls exceptionally well during the death overs and is very effective with the new ball. He also said that Bumrah is a matchwinner.

“India will surely miss Jasprit Bumrah. It does make a lot of difference when a bowler like Bumrah is missing. He is a high-class bowler and also has a lot of experience. He bowls exceptionally during the death overs and is also very effective with the new ball and is a matchwinner,” said Butt.

Salman Butt also appreciated India for providing their young pacers with a lot of exposure. Butt also said that the youngsters have been playing a lot of cricket and will be high on confidence.

“India have given a lot of exposure to their young pacers. They are all quite young, but not new to international cricket. They have been playing a lot of cricket and will be high on confidence. While Bumrah is the best of them all, the rest are also not very new to the scene,” said Butt.

Three fast bowlers have been named in India’s squad for the Asia Cup including, Avesh Khan, Arshdeep Singh, and the veteran Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
