Navalny team says Russia is threatening to bury a body at an Arctic jail

Russia has issued a stark warning regarding Alexei Navalny, a critic of Putin. They will bury him in an Arctic camp unless his family consents to a private funeral. This follows Alexei Navalny’s Death on February 16, after three years in jail. His imprisonment was seen as punishment for opposing Putin.

Even though Alexei Navalny’s mother paid a visit to the Siberian prison camp, the authorities have refused to release his corpse to her. Kira Yarmysh, the spokesperson for Navalny, stated that the authorities demanded a private burial within three hours, or they would bury Navalny in the camp. Navalny’s mother, Lyudmila Navalnaya, refused this demand, asserting her right to decide on her son’s burial method.

Critics say the Russian government fears Navalny even after his death. They worry a public burial might boost support for his cause. They accuse Putin’s allies of hiding the truth by restricting access to Navalny’s body. Over the past week, Russian law enforcement officers have detained many people at makeshift shrines dedicated to the opposition leader.

Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia, has not made any statements addressed to the general public about Alexei Navalny’s Death
