PTI minister says Uzair Baloch JIT report released by Sindh govt ‘different from original’

Minister of Shipping and Maritime Affairs Ali Haider Zaidi appealed to Chief Justice of Pakistan Gulzar Ahmed to the notice of Uzair Baloch JIT report which was released by Sindh government a day earlier which he stated was different from the original one.

During a press conference in Islamabad he was speaking beside the Information Minister Shibli Faraz he presented a separate report. He also said that “You are also from Karachi you have seen how systematically destroyed Karachi has been.”

On Monday Sindh government released the JIT report of high-profile cases which include the case of Uzair Baloch, the Baldia factory fire incident and former chairman of the Fisherman Cooperative Society Nisar Morai after many controversy and prosecution in the court.

Addressing to the media at the beginning of presser the information minister said that PTI came in power to take the country forward.

He said, “We want to get rid of the people who support gangs because we believe that the purpose of the report is to inform the public about the facts.”

Zaida also went to because the reports were not being released. He added, “Some parties harm the province for their interest and made it their state.”

During the press conference, Zaida criticized the JIT report which was released by the Sindh government as they were purposely excluding important facts about the motives behind the action and who ordered the action.

He questioned the people how could have this happened without protection from the government. The minister then showed a video containing clips related to PPP, Baloch and Lyari.

Ties to PPP

Zaida said he had originally written a letter to the Sindh chief secretary in 2016 for the reports to be released before he was elected as a minister.

But he didn’t get any response there he decided to approach the Sindh High court (SHC).

When the court directed them to release it the Sindh government didn’t release. He then resent a letter to the chief secretary but didn’t get any response after which he filled a contempt of court petition.

He said after which the Sindh government contacted the SC against the SHC’s decision.

While referring to the PPP leadership he said “I wanted to bring this issue up on the floor of the National Assembly. They were giving speeches on the budget but they were acting as sponsors for the gangsters.”

Zaidi presented a report which he called was the original JIT report on Uzair Baloch which said that the gang leaders had confessed that he meet Sindh chief minister Qaim Ali Shah and Faryal Talpur the sister of former president Asif Ali Zardari asking that the money on his head be removed.

Baloch supposedly said that the head money was withdrawn on Talpur and Zardari’s order.

In the last page, Baloch said that he feared they would kill him after these revelations and that Zardari and other political figures might take revenge and ask for protection.

A six-member JIT was formed by the Sindh government in February 2016 to interrogate Baloch. The JIT included six representatives of security and intelligence agencies. The JIT unanimously declared him as black or guilty for his crimes alleged find that Baloch along with his gang members was involved in a large number of murders/target killings of his rivals and innocent citizens including ethnic and political motivated killing.

He claimed that the report he had was different from the one released by Sindh government.
He also said that “JIT had six people one person form each Special Branch and the Crime Investigation Department, from the Sindh government, as well as officials from the Intelligence Bureau, Rangers, Inter-Services and MI from the federal government.”

He added “All four people from the federal government have signed each page of this report but those provided by the Sindh government have not. What happened? The reports were made and they have major discoveries.

He claimed that there was a dilemma between the centre and the provincial government over the report but the four people from the federal government had sent their reports.

In April 2016 Dawn reported that Rangers and police were at fence over the involvement of certain disclosure that the Lyari based gangster made in the custody of paramilitary force.

The report quoted sources saying that the disputed points mainly referred to the supposed links of Uzair Baloch with certain senior politicians and officials of both police and rangers.

The paramilitary troopers had claimed that the Lyari gangster had said a lot of things regarding his ties with senior politicians who were ignoring him. However, when he was presented before the JIT, he did not admit regarding his ties with the top PPP leadership.

Zaidi said “There is a difference between these two reports. Their report’s page 35 is page 43 in the original report and no one from the Sindh government has signed it.

The original JIT report on Uzair Baloch has six people listed under subhead titled ‘friends’. The friends include 6 names Dr Zulfiqar Mirza, Faryal Talpur, Abdul Qadri Patel, Dr Nisar Morai, Senator Yusuf Baloch and Sharjeel Memon. He said and stated that these names were taken out of the report released by the provincial government.

He also said that the report contained four signatures and also said that the PPP MNA Abdul Qadir Patel had tasked him Baloch to murder a man for killing his coordinator.

He added “On page 15 their report says accused confessed to the murder of Jaleel and informed that the dead body was disposed at an unknown place by his gangsters. The reports which he says is the original one says accused disclosed that in 2011, Qadir Patel of PPP tasked him to kill the victim as he had murdered his coordinator.”

The report provided by the Sindh government doesn’t tell us the motive behind the murder and on who order was the deed carried out

Zaidi added that in the original report Qadir Patel, Nisar Morai, Yusuf Baloch, Owais Muzaffar Tappi and Zulfiqar were the key figures in PPP that supported Baloch.

He added, “It also says that after Mirza’s resignation when the situation got worse Memon and Tappi had him do everything.”

He also said “he was not afraid of any legal against him by the PPP. He would say “move a privilege motion, go to court I will put this all on the line. I was not a minister and don’t care if I am one tomorrow.

He added that “he had spoken with the prime minister who had told him that the government will support him which is why Shibli Faraz is sitting next to me.”

Zaidi said that “across the board, transparency should be ensured” and all the names I called out here and are present in the report should be investigated. I am on saying that the law should be equal for everyone.”

Baldia fire
Taking about the JIT report on the Baldia factory fire, Zaidi said that it was written on the last page that this act of Baldia factory is a blatant example of police inefficiency.

Zaida said “The JIT carried out an examination of the first investigation method about and it concluded that fear and favour were the dominating factors throughout and affected police performance. They said another first information report (FIR) should be registered and another investigation is conducted. This was written in the JIT report which they released.”
He added that “this was ow institutions in the country have been destroyed.

Referring to another report that accused PPP lawmaker Imtiaz Ahmed Shaikh of drawing criminals and using them for political and financial gains, Zaidi said that when it emerges Sindh police superintendent (SP) Dr Rizwan Ahmed was transferred to Shikharpur.

The report has detailed report against criminals and drug peddlers in Chanesar Goth Mehmoodabad.
