ECB committed to tour despite flooding

The England and Wales Cricket Board is committed to their next Twenty20 tour to Pakistan (London) despite floods ravaging the country.

Since 2005, England has avoided Pakistan due to safety concerns. Last year, they unexpectedly canceled a series.

Because of this decision, the Pakistan Cricket Board is understandably furious, and the importance of England’s seven-match Twenty20 series starting on September 20 in terms of bilateral tensions will only grow.

The most significant floods in Pakistani history have swamped a third of the country and killed 1,200 people and counting. However, matches are still set to be held in Karachi and Lahore. At this time, no changes are being contemplated.

The general director of men’s cricket at the ECB, Rob Key, said on Friday: “It’s a moving picture at the moment; there has been a hell of a lot of communication between people out there and the ECB, the PCA (Professional Cricketers’ Association).”

But we can’t wait to go off on our adventure and will do everything to delay our departure.

My sincere wish is that our performance would positively represent that nation’s people after they had endured a horrific time.

“Going out there is something I’m excited about.”
