Massive blow for Pakistan as pace ace Shaheen Afridi ruled out of Asia Cup 2022

According to a press release published by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Saturday, Pakistan’s top bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi has been ruled out of both the England home series and the T20 Asia Cup 2022, which is a big loss.

The statement said, “In light of the most recent scans and reports, the PCB Medical Advisory Committee and independent specialists have recommended that Shaheen take a four- to six-week break.”

According to the report, the bowler is anticipated to play in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Australia 2022 after making his competitive cricket comeback in October with the New Zealand T20I tri-series.

While fielding during the first Test match between Sri Lanka and India in Galle last month, Shaheen sustained a right knee ligament injury.

According to the press release, PCB Chief Medical Officer Dr. Najeebullah Soomro said, “I have spoken with Shaheen and he is understandably upset with the news, but he is a brave young man who has vowed to come back strongly to serve his country and team.”

“Even though he has improved during his recuperation in Rotterdam, it is evident that he will need more time, and October is when he is most likely to return to competitive cricket.”

In order to guarantee Shaheen’s safe return to competitive cricket, he stated the PCB’s Sports and Exercise Medicine Department would be collaborating closely with him in the upcoming weeks.

The athlete will remain with the team to finish his recovery, the press release stated. “Shortly, his replacement for the Asia Cup will be revealed.”
