Social media campaign against Pak army ‘joint project’ of PTI and India, claims Khawaja Asif

On Wednesday, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif said that the Pakistan Army was the target of a “joint project” by the PTI and India, which was directed towards the fatal army helicopter crash that occurred during flood relief operations in Balochistan earlier this month.

People from all walks of life, political leaders, and state institutions responded strongly to the disgusting and unacceptable online campaign that some social media activists and political zealots launched following the helicopter crash in Lasbela in order to further their personal and political agendas.

The PTI’s social media staff is accused by the ruling coalition of initiating the smear campaign at PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s request.

Speaking about the matter at a press briefing held in Islamabad today, Asif revealed that the social media effort encompassed 18 Indian accounts.

“Their channels claim that even with billions of dollars invested, we could not have built the kind of network that the PTI and its leader are doing to protect and advance India’s interests in Pakistan,” the defence minister remarked.

Asif stated that the PTI’s social media accounts were conducting a “smear campaign” against the nation and the army while the country was in grief over the Lasbela helicopter disaster, with assistance from Indian and other offshore social media accounts.

Asif mentioned claims from the media that surfaced a day earlier, stating that an examination of the campaign revealed the involvement of 529 Pakistani accounts, 18 Indian accounts, and 33 accounts from other nations.

“This investigation is coming to an end,” he declared, adding that the law and the Constitution would be followed with regard to the findings.

Before the relatives of the martyrs, he claimed that the situation had embarrassed the entire country and demonstrated that “there are such people found among us who can fall so low for their political motives.”

Asif promised future disclosures and said the data was “confirmed and verified.”

The PTI’s purported campaign, party leader Shahbaz Gill’s remarks on the army, and his later allegations of being tortured in police custody were all described by the defence minister as “diversion” strategies to deflect attention from the foreign funding case ruling.

Asif claimed that Imran then withdrew his support from Gill’s remarks after seeing that the action had harmed the PTI rather than yielded any political or financial rewards.

The minister of defence demanded that this diversionary strategy be “stopped immediately.”
