Buttler ‘excited’ as England arrive in Pakistan after 17 years

In Karachi, England has finally arrived after 17 long years and a sudden cancellation of their trip last year.

Now that everything is over, the 19-man team checked into a five-star hotel here on a calm Thursday afternoon, getting ready for a long Twenty20 International series.

England will play seven games against the hosts, with the last one set for October 2, just 20 days before their first T20 World Cup match in Australia. Jos Buttler will lead England in these games.

They said at a news conference on Thursday, “We’re all excited to be here and very much looking forward to the tour. It’s also great to be back as an England cricket team after a long time.”

It’s not good for England to have all-rounders Liam Livingstone and Ben Stokes, as well as pacer Chris Jordan, on the Pakistan trip. The three have been named to the T20 World Cup team, though.

The Pakistan series will give the guests the time and room to explore and try out a lot of different options. It will also be about how the players handle their workload, which is something that happens a lot in cricket now that there are T20 leagues.

Buttler said, “As we get ready for the World Cup, many of us are in a bit of a unique situation as a team because we don’t have many guys who are hurt. They’ll be healthy in time for the World Cup, but they might not be healthy here.”

“A few guys are getting back to full fitness, so we’ll have to keep an eye on ourselves during this tour. The main goal for everyone is to get to Australia ready for the World Cup.”

“That’s why getting players to where we want them to be to get used to their roles is important to us.”

Because some regular players won’t be there, a group of young players and second-string staff may play in the Pakistan games. Some of the players who are expected to play have good experience playing in Pakistan through the Pakistan Super League. These players are David Willey, Phil Salt, Will Jacks, Liam Dawson, Harry Brook, Luke Wood, and Ben Duckett.

England will have an advantage on the field because of these players, but they also helped England decide to send almost their whole team to Pakistan.

Many of our players have played in the PSL and told us how much they enjoyed it. We are also told how much the people here love cricket, so we are excited to be here and look forward to the series, Buttler said.

The captain of England thought that the series would be full of great cricket and that the top-ranked guests, Pakistan, should not be taken easily.

“We’re excited to play Pakistan because they are a very strong team, and I think it will be a great game,” Buttler said.

“They are very strong, and we know that T20 cricket can change quickly. You don’t have to be the favorite to win.”

To win a T20 match, both teams need to have a lot of players who can do that.

Buttler said that England would be able to do a tough set of practices before the World Cup thanks to the large number of games.

As the 32-year-old put it, “They will give us a very tough challenge, and we look forward to that so that we are battle-hardened going into the World Cup.”

“Seven games will be tough, and some of them are right after each other.”

The England players have also chosen to give money to the Disaster Emergency Committee’s request to help the people in Pakistan who were hurt by the recent rains.

TEPP and PCA, two groups that represent English cricket players, have backed the call. The England and Wales Cricket Board will match the gift.

“The people of Pakistan are going through a hard time right now because of the floods. We hope that by being here and playing cricket, we can make them feel a little better,” Buttler said.

“As a team, we’re giving money to help people in need, and the ECB is going to match our donation.”
