Twitter is starting a petition to get Lenovo to change its name to Naseem Shah’s ‘Lenevivo’

Pakistanis are crazy about Naseem Shah right now, and they’ll support the cricket player even if he says a word wrong. The word is wrong, not Shah. Get rid of the word, get rid of it. We’d rather have a plea to change how it’s pronounced than have someone make fun of him.

A video from earlier this year that showed the 19-year-old cricket player went popular on Twitter and got some mean responses. Shah and Nawaz, who play for the Quetta Gladiators, were in a movie from the PSL era that talked about technology. Shah wrote out the name Lenovo and said it as “Lenevivo.”

Some Indian Twitter users used this to make fun of him, but his friends in Pakistan aren’t having it. They are ready to stand up for Shah and do so when he is being picked on.

Who is Lenovo? From now on, it’s either Lenevivo or nothing. We expect the CEO to officially say sorry. A period. He’ll make the same mistake again. What matters in the end is how well you do.

First, English isn’t our first language, and the sense of superiority that comes with it is a hangover from colonialism. Things that aren’t important should not be linked to respect. We think it should be based on how well they do in the Asia Cup instead.
